Today we are going to be making little Father’s Day pinch pots for pocket change. They are super simple to make and are the perfect Father’s Day gifts from little ones.
All you need is some kind of air-dry clay, and apron to keep clothes clean, and some little hands and fingers to make the pots. Personally, I prefer using Crayola’s Model Magic for this project. It comes in a variety of colors, and it’s very easy to manipulate. Air-dry clay tends to be a little harder, so depending on your child’s age, it may not be the best choice. Model Magic also eliminates the need for paint.
You’ll start the pots by having your kiddo roll the clay into a little ball. Once it’s a nice sized ball, you’ll have them push their thumbs down the middle. Next, have them start to pinch the edges to make a bowl. This is the perfect time to start adding in other colors and designs if you’re using different colored clay or Model Magic.
When the pot is done, set it aside and let it dry. Once dry, if you used plain clay, this is when you’ll have your kiddo paint. If there is no need for paint, you’re all done! Help your child wrap it up and give it to dad on their special day.
