Prince Horace is used to getting everything he wants, and this Christmas he wants the biggest and best present ever! But how big is enough for Horace?
Inspired by the well-loved traditional carol, this modern version tells the story of a very spoiled little prince who will not be satisfied until he has the most massive present imaginable!
Morris Wants More is a cute board book for preschool aged children. It was written by Joshua Seigal and it was illustrated by Amélie Falière. It is a Christmas themed book, so it may be a book you’d want to read around the holidays, however, there are educational takeaways that don’t necessarily pertain to the holidays.
One of the biggest educational takeaways this book provides is size comparison. It uses words that are “pretend” and words that are “real”. The author uses words like tiny, medium-sized, big, huge, mega, and supermega monstermassive. There are many other words the author used to describe size throughout the book as well. These are all great words that describe size that can easily be explained and tied into any curriculum. It’d be a great book to display on a cognitive or science center in a preschool classroom.
The other takeaway this book provides is a lesson on generosity and kindness, as well as many other social-emotional areas. Throughout the book, Morris shows his greed by being unappreciative of what his parents are giving him and it catches up to him in the end.
For the educational takeaways, I would definitely recommend this book to others, especially those who have or teach younger children. HOWEVER, I have this strange feeling there is some political humor tied into this book (perhaps in the pictures?), but I’m not sure. I’ll leave that up to you.
